Ketpeli Students Receive Donation of Books & School Bags

With view to assisting the education of students of low income families at Ketpeli in the 522 Brigade area of Meesalai, Sri Lanka Army arranged a donation to them with coordination of the People’s Bank. The area is still under development and most of families cannot afford to buy necessary school items for their school-going children.

Members of the Buddhist Association of People’s Bank, responding to the request of General Officer Commanding 52 Division Brigadier Anura Sudhasinghe came forward to help 160 students in Ketpeli area by providing a pack of exercise books and a school bag to the value of Rs. 1500/= each.

Meanwhile, 25 teachers present on the occasion were given 25 wall clocks as a special gift.

A function to hand over the items to those students was held at J / Vidattapalai Kamalasani Vidyalaya on 21st January.

Commander 522 Brigade Brig. Athula Silva, Colonel General Staff 52 Division Lieutenant Colonel Ranjith Abesinghe, Secretary Buddhist Association of People’s Bank Mr. Preethi Kolonnage, Chief Organizer Buddhist Association Mr. Nishantha Pieris, Deputy Organizer Mr. Nihal Perera, officials of regional branches of People’s Bank and distinguished people in the area were also present.
