SF - J Commander briefs US State Department Officials on Jaffna Situation

A four member delegation from US State Department and the US Embassy in Sri Lanka on a visit to Jaffna met Commander Security Forces Commander - Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe to discuss the current security situation in Jaffna on Wednesday (08) at Palaly.

Major General Hathurusinghe, during the meeting gave a detailed account on Jaffna’s prevailing security situation and how the Sri Lanka Army get involved in government’s reconciliation process in post-conflict Jaffna.

The delegation was further enlightened on the community welfare project including housing project for civilians, scholarship project for students, health development program for civilians and humanitarian assistance for newly resettled civilians augmented by Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna.

SF-J Commander briefed them about the Army’s effort to get the reintegrated ex-LTTE combatants to the main stream by creating employment for them through various livelihood project.

The delegation comprised Department of State Ambassador-at-large for the Office of Global Criminal Justice Stephen J Rapp, Special Assistance Mr. Dean Kaplan, US Embassy Deputy Political Chief Christopher Gunning and Political Specialist Padmini Raajadurrai.
