Army Takes Jaffna Students to Visit “Deyata Kirula”

During past two years, Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna (SF-J), on concept of Commander SF – J Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe organized a series of educational development programmes for Jaffna students. Awarding scholarships, felicitating clever students, organizing exam-oriented seminars and educational trips to the south are among them.

Civil Affairs and Public Relations Office functioning under SF-J recently took more than 1000 students from various schools in Jaffna on a visit to “Deyata Kirula” national mega exhibition held at Oyamaduwa in Anuradhapura. The exhibition commenced on 4th February ceremoniously lasted for 9 days.

Four or five busses taking students, teachers and parents daily departed from Jaffna to Anuradhapura with protection of soldiers of the SF-J. Transport, meals, medical facilities and refreshments had been arranged by the Army for all who joined the visit.

By the 12th of February, the final day of the exhibition a total of 1126 students, 151 teachers and 76 parents had visited the “Deyata Kirula” exhibition in Anuradhapura.

National Youth Corps, Maga (Pvt) Engineering Company and Ruhunu Food (Pvt) company cooperated with the Civil Affairs and Public Relations Office to provide lunch for all. Mr. Sumudu Tharanga of Ceylon Biscuits and Mr. Eroy Pieris of Prima Company sponsored refreshments.
