[2012-02-27 09:10:55]

“Yarl”, the exhibition of photographs that narrated “Glory of Jaffna” for three full days at Jaffna Public Library Auditorium ended on Sunday (26) evening after many thousands viewed it with much appreciation and enthusiasm.

Since the day (24) the exhibition was opened by the Hon Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, large crowds including scholars, students, teachers, undergraduates, journalists, photographers and visitors from the south fell in queue to share this rare experience of being educated about Jaffna by a parade of nearly 400 colour and black and whit images. Photographs on life, heritage, historical value, culture and natural beauty of Jaffna snapped and developed by Civil Affairs Officer of Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SF-J) Lieutenant Colonel Lal Nanayakkara and his “Yarl” team earned many complimentary comments and constructive suggestions from viewers.

Commander Security Forces – Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and the Governor Northern Province Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri were the Chief Guests on the second and the third day opening ceremonies of the exhibition respectively.
