Sri Camachchi SC Wins the 513 Brigade Cricket Trophy

To encourage sports skills of the youths in Jaffna and to strengthen Civil Military Coordination (CIMIC) between the Army and the civilians in Jaffna, Civil Affairs Office of the 513 Brigade of Uduvil organized a soft ball cricket tournament recently.

Twenty sports clubs in the Brigade area participated in the tournament and the players of Sri Camachchi Sports Club won the trophy. Vaddu Stars SC and Kalavaturai SC respectively won the second and the third places at the finals held at Vaddu Hindu College ground on 11th March 2012.

Winners were awarded with the trophy, a prize of Rs. 7500/= and a pack of sports items. The second and the third teams also received trophies, financial prizes and packs of sports items while all Sports Clubs that participated in the tournament were gifted sports items.

People’s Bank of Chankanai and Tokyo Cement Company assisted the Army to organize the tournament. General Officer Commanding 51 Division Brig. Piyal Wickrmarathne, Commander 513 Brigade Brig. Pradeep Silva, senior Army Officers, senior citizens and cricket fans in the area witnessed the final match.
