Army Tattoo 2012 Ends with Unprecedented Attendance of Jaffna Civilians

Over 20000 gathering of people from all parts of the peninsula thronged the Durayappah Stadium on Sunday (25) afternoon to watch the final day of three-day long Army Tattoo.

The final show of the programme was graced by the Chief of Staff of Sri Lank Army Major General R.M.D. Ratnayake as Chief Guest and Mrs. Yogeswari Pathgunrasa as the Guest of Honour.

People on Sunday began to reach the stadium since forenoon looking for a better place to have a full view of the Tattoo. The location was fully packed with audience the previous day too. Elevated places such as rooftops, water tanks, trees and vehicle hoods were found crowded with children and youngsters who cheered in high glee throughout the programme.

Expressing their ideas to media, many people among the thrilled crowd said that this was the first time they saw such a marvelous show and this Army show was really interesting and exciting.

Chief Incumbent of the Northern Province and Nagadeepa temple Ven. Navandagala Padumathisssa Thero, Bishop of Jaffna Most Rev. Fr. Dr. Thomas Saundranayagam, religious leaders, scholars, senior government and private sector officials were among the mammoth gathering who witnessed this giant Army show.
