[2012-04-01 13:45:33]

“War is over. Now we are on the path of reconciliation and reintegration aspiring to achieve the lasting peace in the country. At this juncture, diplomatic core representing the country in foreign service has a big responsibility of clearing repulsive notions the West has adopted towards us,” Commander Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe said during his meeting with a team of new officers absorbed to the Sri Lanka Foreign Service (SLFC) at the Headquarters SF-J in Palaly on Saturday (31).

He stressed the necessity of explaining the western countries of the peaceful environment prevailing among communities.

“Please try to make more friends in the international arena for our country and use your skills to spread the message of peace that people are enjoying after defeating terrorism in the country,” SF Commander requested.

As a part of their one year training on the Foreign Service, those cadets had been assigned to undergo one week package in Jaffna to familiarize with the Jaffna life and the culture under the aegis Government Agent Jaffna Mrs. Emelda Sukumar, a Super Grade Officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS).

During their stay they are scheduled to meet senior officials of the government sector and make field visits in the peninsula.
