School Items Worth over Rs. 1.5 Million Donated to Mirusuvil Children

In another community welfare project under the Civil Military Coordination (CIMIC) programmes being carried out by the Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J), 522 Brigade at Mirusuvil organized a donation of school items and uniforms for needy children with lavish financial support of a few generous personalities in the South.

On request of the Commander 522 Brigade Brigadier Athula Silva, proprietor of the Diddeniya Estates Mr. Gsmini Jayasooriya, Mrs. Gamini Jayasooriya and Mrs. Soma Welikala spent over Rs. 1.5 million to purchase school bags, books, uniforms for school children and toys and readymade garments for small kids in the area. Children from 389 families living in the 522 Brigade area received donations from the hand of 522 Brigade Commander, Mr. and Mrs. Jayasooriya and their family members and Mrs. Welikala during a ceremony organized by the 522 Brigade at Usan Ramanathan Maha Vidyalaya on 21st August.

Hindu and Catholic priests, principals, school teachers, students and parents participated in the ceremony.
