512 Brigade Helps Poor Families on Poya Day

Children of five families with low income in the 512 Brigade area of Ariyalai received a donation of school items from the Army as a helping hand to their school education. Exercise books, writing materials and other items needed for their classroom work were handed over to them by the Commander 512 Brigade Colonel Ajith Pallawala on November 27th, the Full Moon day at the Brigade Headquarters.

The Brigade distributed parcels of dry ration among the same families on the same occasion. On guidance of Colonel Pallawala, the Brigade had arranged lunch for all members of those families at the Brigade.

Meanwhile, a female calf was saved from being slaughtered by the Brigade Commander with his own money and was given to the family of Mr. P.A.R. Ilangeswaran of Kadaramadam with view to promoting their livelihood.

Ven. Kosgama Dhammadassana thero, Civil Affairs Officer of the 512 Brigade Lieutenant Colonel Sunanda Ranasinghe and the Headquarter Inspector Jaffna Police Mr. Saman Sigera were also present.
