Security Force Jaffna Launched a Training Programme for School Cadets in Jaffna

On the direction of Major General Mahesh Senanayaka, the Commander Security Force (Jaffna) -SF (J), troops of 523 Brigade initiated the training programme in coordination with the 20th Battalion National Cadet Corps (NCC) on 07th Feb 2017 at Hindu Collage, Chavakachcheri Jaffna.

Objectives of the training progrmme were to develop the discipline, sense of the interrelation and cooperation between school cadets. Meantime, it further enables to mature with the qualities of leadership and to provide the knowledge while enhancing skills which are necessary to lay the foundations for their school career.

Comparing to the other parts of country, cadets in Jaffna Peninsula were in far behind in their skills. Therefore, this programme becomes a timely requirement to enhance their abilities. Moreover, necessary equipment and knowledge will be provided by the Sri Lanka Army. This training programme further promotes Reconciliation process and mutual coordination between civilians and Sri Lanka Army.

Lieutenant Colonel Ushan Gunawardana, Civil Affairs Officer 52 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Palitha Erawpola, Commanding Officer 20th Battalion NCC, Major Pradeep Bandara, Civil Affairs Officer 523 Brigade, Mr. S. Saruveshvaran, Principal Hindu Collage, Chavakachcheri, soldiers and students participated in the event.
