Re-Opening of Kankesanthurai - Point Pedro Road for Public Transport

[2018-02-08 21:18:45]

Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna re-opened the road patch that runs between Kankesanthurai and Point Pedro along the AB 21 road for public transportation on 6 February 2018 after 28 years.

Due to non availability of this road access, the civilians living in both sides (Kankesanthurai and Point Pedro) were compelled to make a long detour around 35 km by private vehicles and approx 50 km in public transportation facility. This reopening of the AB 21 road will ease off all the difficulties which were experienced by the civilians in Kankesanthurai and Point Pedro areas. Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna Major General Roshan Seneviratne, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Mr Nagalingam Vedanayagam, District Secretary Jaffna, senior military officers and a few other government officials and civilians were present to join the 1st bus trip from Kankesanthurai to Point Pedro.
