Jaffna Soldiers Celebrate Sinhala & Hindu New Year 2018

Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival which symbolizes cultural unity between the two communities organized by the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna was held on 9th of April at Polsewana playground under the guidance of Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi, Commander Security Force - Jaffna. Troops participated a range of traditional games which can be seen in the North and the South especially during this festival season.

The festival was specially organized for both male and female soldiers who stayed away from their homes on official commitments during the festival period. It was observed that soldiers enthusiastically took part in many events and exhibited cohesion among them. Valuable prizes were presented to the winners and participants. Troops serving under the Security Force Headquarters extended their support in organizing the festival.

The Awurudu Kumariya and Awurudu Kumara competition and a Musical Show were also organized in the evening at Thalsewana playground. Security Force Commander graced the occasion as the chief guest. Senior government officials in Jaffna, senior military officers, senior Air Force officers and senior police officers were associated with the event.
