Army Conducts More Programmes to Celebrate of Christmas

Army troops of the 522 and 523 Brigades conducted a number of events to celebrate Christmas in Jaffna on 23rd December 2018 at the Church of South India in Jaffna.

Troops from the 12th Battalion Gemunu Watch, along with the 4th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment conducted a programme of Carols, Drama and Dancing for 142 children belonging to 11 Churches while the music for the events were provided by the Army Band and Army Calipso teams.

The distribution of Dry Ration Packs for 5 deserving families also took place during the occasion.

A total of 36 Reverend Fathers of 11 churches also took part to witness the celebrations while Reverend Father Jeyanisam of the Church of South India in Jaffna and Reverend Father Moorthi from the Baptist Church coordinated the events. Clergymen from other religions, Army Personnel, members of government and private institutions and a large number of Civilians were present during the occasion.
