Army Celebrates Thai Pongal with Deserving Families in Jaffna

Army Troops in Jaffna celebrated the Thai Pongal Festival with low-income families in the Jaffna Peninsula on 16th January 2019. 100 Children from low-income families received stationary packs while 26 Differently Abled Persons were donated with clutches and a wheelchair. In addition, 1000 coconut seedlings were also distributed among the crowd.

The distribution of donations took place at the Sri Bhadrakaali Kovil Premises at Sangarathai in Vadukkodai, Jaffna in view of a concept of the Commander Security Force Jaffna, Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi, to enhance the religious coexistence among the civilians within the peninsula.

Consul General of India in Jaffna and Divisional Secretariat of Valakaamam were present during the occasion in addition to the large number of Military Personnel and civilians.
