Two Disabled War Veterans Commence Their Foot Pilgrimage From Nagadeepa To Kirivehera (Kataragama)


In view with inspiring morale and courage among disabled war veterans, Private (Retired) Piyathissa RWP of 2nd Battalion Gajaba Regiment of Sri Lanka Army and Chief Petty Officer (Retired) MBW Kumara RSP of Sri Lanka Navy who were disabled due to the supreme sacrifice for the motherland commenced their determined foot pilgrimage from Nagadeepa precincts in Jaffna peninsula on 22 November 2019.

The veterans on their exemplary start off, were facilitated and inspired by the troops in Jaffna peninsula upon the patronage of Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya. During this historic expedition, the Army troops and resident in Jaffna Peninsula gathered to the way and motivated the two veterans.

The chief incumbent of Nagadeepa Viharaya blessed the determined veterans during a brief ceremony held with the participation of General Officer Commanding 52 Division, Deputy Director Rehabilitation, Commander of 512, 513, 523 and 552 Brigades, Commanding Officer Elara Navy Camp, Officers of Sri Lanka Army and Navy and a number of troops
